- The procedure for Applying Citizenship by Real Estate Investment
The most common and convenient way to apply for Turkish Citizenship is through investment in real estate. The steps for Turkish Citizenship Application through Real Estate Investment are as follows:
Step 1
Obtain a Turkish Tax Registration Number from the Tax Office or online. You will need your passport and photos for this step.
Step 2
Open a Turkish bank account. You will need your passport, Tax Registration Number, and Residence permit for this step. However, some state banks may allow you to open an account with an official document such as a public utility bill that shows your current address.
Step 3
Submit the ‘Foreign Exchange Currency Certificate’ and a commitment letter stating that you will not sell the property for 3 years. Once the required time has expired, you are free to sell the property.
Step 4
Purchase a property in Turkey. Payments must be made through the bank to the seller’s account, with a reference indicating the details of the property purchased. The Land Registry Office will forward your request for the “Certificate of Conformity” for real estate to the relevant authority. Applications are first evaluated by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, General Directorate of Land Registry, and Cadastral Directorate of Foreign Affairs Department. Once the “Certificate of Conformity” is issued, the General Directorate of Migration Management and the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs will be notified.
Step 5
Apply for a Residence Permit for Turkish Citizenship Application to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management after receiving the “Certificate of Conformity”.
Step 6
Apply for Turkish Residency at the Provincial Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. Your spouse and children under 18 may also apply for Turkish Citizenship. Note that your citizenship will remain forever, and any children born thereafter will also have Turkish Citizenship.
- Other common ways to apply for Turkish Citizenship
- Reside in Turkey for 5 years without interruption. However, additional conditions such as a good command of the Turkish language, good moral character, and not having a disease that may constitute a hazard to public health are also required.
- If you are married to a Turkish citizen for at least 3 years and your marriage is stable, you can apply for Turkish citizenship. If your spouse dies after your application, the requirement of family unity is no longer necessary.
